This paper investigates the heating process of an aluminium billet rotating in a static magnetic field produced by an optimized array of permanent magnets (PM), providing a nearly uniform flux density field in the billet volume. The thermal power and temperature distributions in the billet strongly depend on the field profile along the billet axis. In order to meet the technical specifications of industrial heating in terms of average temperature, temperature homogeneity, and heating time, many process with low-angular velocity in the given magnetic field, have been simulated.

Abstract
This paper investigates the heating process of an aluminium billet rotating in a static magnetic field produced by an optimized array of permanent magnets (PM), providing a nearly uniform flux density field in the billet volume. The thermal power and temperature distributions in the billet strongly depend on the field profile along the billet axis. In order to meet the technical specifications of industrial heating in terms of average temperature, temperature homogeneity, and heating time, many process with low-angular velocity in the given magnetic field, have been simulated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
