In a turf system settled on a ruderal degraded area, effects of a commercial compost on some microbial and agronomic parameters were determined. Compost was used at two rates (1 and 5 kg/m2). The lowest rate was fortified with Ca-Lignosulphonate (3% v/v). Compost treatments significantly improved all tested parameters compared to untreated control. The highest rate showed the best results, as expected. Ca-Lignosulphonate addition improved performances of the lowest rate of compost. Considering the potential toxicity for plants of the highest rate of the compost, the lowest rate fortified with Ca-Lignosulphonate seems to be the best treatment under our experimental conditions.
