Among the most critical targets of malicious acts of interference, LNG regasification terminals play a relevant role, due to the high inventories of flammable materials. The concern about possible external attacks in these plants greatly increased in the last years, since the industrial sites may represent a very attractive target, from both a political and an economical point of view. The present study is aimed at linking the “attractiveness” of the plant to a structured approach that takes into account the potential consequences of accidental scenarios following a terrorist attack. The methodology was applied to LNG regasification terminals evidencing the potential impact on the expected consequences of malicious acts related to the technological choices and to the site-specific features of the plants.

Abstract
Among the most critical targets of malicious acts of interference, LNG regasification terminals play a relevant role, due to the high inventories of flammable materials. The concern about possible external attacks in these plants greatly increased in the last years, since the industrial sites may represent a very attractive target, from both a political and an economical point of view. The present study is aimed at linking the “attractiveness” of the plant to a structured approach that takes into account the potential consequences of accidental scenarios following a terrorist attack. The methodology was applied to LNG regasification terminals evidencing the potential impact on the expected consequences of malicious acts related to the technological choices and to the site-specific features of the plants.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
