The paper analyzes citizens' behavioral reactions to 2012 earthquake in Emilia- Romagna. Data were collected from an online questionnaire diffused after the event. The majority of participants (N = 1,839) reported the adoption of protective behaviors and the presence of emotional distress after the tremors. The security practices suggested by authorities are compared with results, to highlight which measures are diffused among citizens and which preparedness improvements have to be undertaken.
