This report is part of the activities and deliverables of Work Package 5, Comparative Testing, of the SMOOHS project. Among the various activities reported in this deliverable, one was the comparative analysis of the NDT or micro-destructive performance, when the techniques are applied on the most common structural materials and assemblies, in order to assess powerful strategies for the characterization of issues such as: 1. identification of defects, 2. monitoring the response to static and vibrational loads 3. rate of decay in terms of aesthetics and mechanics of materials subjected to degradation. In addition to NDT and micro-destructive investigation, visual inspections, chemical and physical characterization, mechanical testing and accelerated aging tests were applied. In order to organize the vast amount of experimental work carried out, the obtained results have been divided into two macro-sections: wall structures and ceiling structures. For wall structures, materials such as fired-clay brick, natural stone and mortars were analysed, whilst for the ceiling structures, timber elements and masonry vaults were considered.
