In the difficult task of preventing illegal immigrants to enter in Europe, several agreements among Mediterranean States were signed during the last years. Although many doubts were expressed on their compliance with international human rights law, following rebellions in North Africa and the disappearance of long-lived Governments new agreements have been promoted pursuing similar aims. A more comprehensive approach may be suggested and promoted within this renovated scenario in order to share responsibilities among all the involved actors.
