The plant mixing temperature and the field work condition of Warm Binders are not generally the same of those adopted with traditional and modified ones. This Difference makes RTFOT procedure and temperature (163°C) potentially not representative of the real aging affecting. Consequently the binder durability evaluation and the performance prediction, introduced by EN 12591 and estimated after RTFOT, could result affected by inappropriate short term aging procedure. The main purpose is the evaluation of a new RTFOT procedure based on binder viscosity influence, that justifies the appropriate laboratory conditions to simulate the effective short term aging during mixing and compaction.
