The Brain Drain literature starts in the 1950s and it is normally used as a synonymous of the movement of Human Capital in a context where the net fl ow of expertise is heavily in one direction. This Literature evolves in different direction according the evolution of economics literature. Brain Exchange, Brain Waste, Brain Circulation, Brain Return, Brain Gain, etc. show us that this phenomenon becomes more and more complex. In this article we analyse the high skilled migration literature by proposing an ideal path from the first Brain Drain definition to the last Brain Gain ones in order to interpret the evolution of its literature.
