The paper discusses and tests some managerial aspects of network building undertaken by Local Governments for Destination Management through the analysis of two cases: Bologna and Pompei. The hypothesis is that institutional web sites, if correctly applied, as it concerns the usability and quality, could be effective as other types of governance, in the offering of services and information about the local system. To this purpose the institutional networks would be the focal points setting up an effective collaboration process at local and international level with external actors. Particularly the paper deeps the results of previous researches undertaken by Authors in the field and considers new data coming from the case of two italian cities: Bologna and Pompei that represent two different approaches to destination management with a different level of success
