Turnera ulmifolia, the yellow alder, is a widely distributed species in Brazil where, besides ornamental, it is used as tea for the treatment of gastric diseases. In plants showing yellowing and witches’ broom symptoms phytoplasmas were detected by molecular analyses. The prokaryote characterization on 16S rDNA gene by RFLP analyses allows preliminary classification of these phytoplasmas in the 16SrXIII ribosomal group, that is firstly reported in the present work as occurring in Brazil

Abstract
Turnera ulmifolia, the yellow alder, is a widely distributed species in Brazil where, besides ornamental, it is used as tea for the treatment of gastric diseases. In plants showing yellowing and witches’ broom symptoms phytoplasmas were detected by molecular analyses. The prokaryote characterization on 16S rDNA gene by RFLP analyses allows preliminary classification of these phytoplasmas in the 16SrXIII ribosomal group, that is firstly reported in the present work as occurring in BrazilI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
