We have analysed the specific needs and constrains of quality control of data collection for crop area estimates with area frames and we have proposed a stratified sequential sample design in order to fulfil these needs. Moreover, for cases in which a sequential procedure cannot be adopted directly by the controller, we have proposed a two phase selection procedure with permanent random numbers which allows a very efficient evaluation of the quality of the data collection. We have also showed that the proposed sample designs allow estimating the bias of measurement errors and consequently adopting estimators for correcting the crop area estimates.

Abstract
