The aim of the research was to verify the effects of the particle length of the diet on production and behaviour of lactating dairy cow. The 30 dairy cows, in a free stall, were divided in two sperimental groups, differed for chop length of the diet (SHORT vs LONG) balance for Diet between the two groups had the same chemical composition but differed only in particle size: 2,8 mm for SHORT diet and 4,7 mm for LONG diet. Dry matter intake was higher in SHORT group (20,60 kg vs 19,30 kg of DM). Milk production showed better results in SHORT (33,10 kg vs 32,84 kg). Milk fat was significantly more for LONG diet.
