This paper presents an assessment of several inter- ference cancellation and gateway cooperation strategies for the return link of a multi-gateway multi-beam broadband satellite system. The aim of the work is to provide theoretical upper bounds to the achievable average per user spectral efficiency and maximum system throughput under different coverage schemes and frequency reuse patterns, considering actual system parame- ters and antenna design. The trade-off between spectral efficiency and system complexity is also addressed focusing on the amount of information that has to be exchanged amongst different gateways during the iterations of the interference cancellation algorithm.

Abstract
This paper presents an assessment of several inter- ference cancellation and gateway cooperation strategies for the return link of a multi-gateway multi-beam broadband satellite system. The aim of the work is to provide theoretical upper bounds to the achievable average per user spectral efficiency and maximum system throughput under different coverage schemes and frequency reuse patterns, considering actual system parame- ters and antenna design. The trade-off between spectral efficiency and system complexity is also addressed focusing on the amount of information that has to be exchanged amongst different gateways during the iterations of the interference cancellation algorithm.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
