Our need for a flexible, powerful and easy-to-use authoring tool for web-based learning in the language teaching domain inspired us to design a set of tools based on XML templates accessible through a simple web interface. A centralised XML parser transforms the XML exercise skeleton into a complete, multimedia rich, scripted DHTML page ready to be used as part of a teaching module.
