In the present paper, a fiber model is presented, devoted to the long-term behavior of reinforced concrete cracked beams, built according to two subsequent stages. The general crosssection is divided into steel fibers and concrete fibers. An incremental algorithm is formulated in order to describe the stress redistribution occurring due to concrete viscosity, introduced in the model by means of an ageing linear viscoelastic law. A numerical example is presented, concerning the creep behavior of a RC section completed in two stages. It is shown that the present model is able to predict the stress redistribution taking place between the older and the younger concrete.

Abstract

In the present paper, a fiber model is presented, devoted to the long-term behavior of reinforced concrete cracked beams, built according to two subsequent stages. The general crosssection is divided into steel fibers and concrete fibers. An incremental algorithm is formulated in order to describe the stress redistribution occurring due to concrete viscosity, introduced in the model by means of an ageing linear viscoelastic law. A numerical example is presented, concerning the creep behavior of a RC section completed in two stages. It is shown that the present model is able to predict the stress redistribution taking place between the older and the younger concrete.
