This article presents a unified modeling and control approach for three-phase $\boldsymbol{N}$ -level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverters. An averaged duty-cycle model enables regulation of the DC-bus capacitor voltages without altering the commanded output voltage. A necessary and sufficient modulation-feasibility condition is derived, and conservative and exact online limiters are introduced to constrain the internal current references through uniform scaling. The method is experimentally validated on a reconfigurable NPC E-type converter operated in three-, four-, and five-level configurations and supplying an induction machine. The results confirm accurate DC-bus voltage regulation under constant, nonuniform, and time-varying references, effective current limiting, and stable operation within the linear modulation region.

Abstract
The results confirm accurate DC-bus voltage regulation under constant, nonuniform, and time-varying references, effective current limiting, and stable operation within the linear modulation region.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
