This contribution examines the research project Manifiesto Bogotá as a critical tool for interpreting the construction of the Colombian capital's urban identity throughout the twentieth century, through the valorization of the collections of the Leopoldo Rother Museum of Architecture. The development of a critical cartography, structured around historical references, architectural works, key figures, publications, and cultural networks, makes it possible to relate Bogotá's architectural and urban transformations to the international context of the Modern Movement. Rather than reproducing an established historiographical narrative, the aim is to question the disciplinary canon, acknowledging the specificity of local experiences and the transnational connections that contributed to shaping the modern city. Particular attention is devoted to the role of archives as active instruments of knowledge, capable of revealing the complexity of design processes and opening up new interpretative perspectives, including through the recognition of documentary gaps. Research on the work of Italian architect Bruno Violi provides a significant example of this approach. Manifiesto Bogotá thus emerges as an open-ended framework for investigation, aimed at establishing new relationships between documentary heritage, architectural history, and the valorization of Colombian modern architecture.
