Las (inexploradas) interconexiones entre la IA y la sostenibilidad social: una perspectiva laboralista

The rise of the sustainability paradigm – at both the social and environmental levels – within economic, productive, and labour activities has forced a fundamental rethinking of labour law. It is indeed essential to safeguard human rights at work against emerging organisational models, most notably global value chains. Simultaneously, the daily use of digital technologies, particularly AI, reveals a new concentration of power and risks that has required legislative intervention to ensure responsible yet innovative development. Although these two phenomena are deeply intertwined – through the “twin transition” model – current EU regulations seem to overlook their crucial points of convergence. This oversight creates a regulatory vacuum, ultimately threatening to derail progress towards achieving a fully digitalised and socially sustainable economy.
