Descrivere per comporre

If the knowledge of the past is the ground of every culture, the knowledge of architectural project, thought or designed over the centuries, is the basis for every design process and the required condition for the education of an architect. Drawing architecture, as a way of thinking, involves a continuous exercise of observation. The pure description allows to highlight some elements of the studied object and their possible interpretations. The act to describe leads to trace all the architectural object’s parts, leaving the common practice of seeing, to go further, towards looking at. The process of imitation allows to structure a clear path of interpretation and to define limits and possibilities offered by the invention. In this way the Design Courses at the first year at the Faculty of Architecture "Aldo Rossi" in Cesena tend to interpret the reconstruction of the projects and works of the past as a real place of the project.
