Corrigendum: “A potential host and virus targeting tool against COVID-19: Chemical characterization, antiviral, cytoprotective, antioxidant, respiratory smooth muscle relaxant effects of Paulownia tomentosa Steud” [Biomed. Pharmacother. 158 (2023) 114083]

This Corrigendum relates to the above article. Post-publication, an investigation identified concerns regarding the correctness of specific image panels in Fig. 3C (representing Mock, SARS-CoV-2, and SARS-CoV-2+PTS). These panels were intended to illustrate typical viral plaque morphology following fixation and crystal violet staining within the plaque-reduction neutralization test (PRNT). The investigation noted that this panel appeared identical to images previously published as Fig. 3(e) (Ctrl, SARS-CoV-2, and SARS-CoV-2 0.25 mg/mL GSE3n-BuOH) in the journal Antioxidants. Several researchers, including Fabio Magurano, Matteo Micucci, Domenico Nuzzo, Melissa Baggieri, Pasquale Picone, Silvia Gioacchini, Paola Bucci, and Antonella Marchi, also appear as co-authors on both articles. Consequently, the panels appeared to depict the same source images while being described as representing different experimental samples. The authors were requested to provide comments on these concerns, as well as the original unprocessed image files, to aid the investigation during the final stages of manuscript preparation. The authors clarified that incorrect representative photomicrographs were inadvertently included in Fig. 3C. A corrected version of Fig. 3 has been uploaded as supplementary material, and the online article has been updated accordingly.(Figure presented) The authors apologize for this oversight. The journal also apologizes that the issue was not identified prior to publication.
