Italian borghi have been facing a series of challenges for decades, compromising their long-term viability: depopulation, ageing populations, lack of essential services, and architectural decay. In this context, the preservation and enhancement of cultural and identity-related heritage emerge as key components of effective regeneration strategies. Among the most significant initiatives, the PNRR-Borghi programme (2022–ongoing) has allocated over one billion euros to support the revitalisation of numerous borghi across Italy. This contribution examines the case of the project Da Campolo – l’arte fa Scola, promoted in the Emilia-Romagna region, as a model of integrated regeneration in the Bolognese Apennines. The initiative involves the restoration and adaptive reuse of buildings for hospitality, cultural activities, and artisanal training, complemented by cultural events and actions aimed at reactivating the local economic and social fabric. Special attention will be given to a more in-depth analysis of the restoration methods adopted in the village, with a focus on the relationship between conservation and new functions. Finally, the research will reflect on the critical aspects and potential of such models, questioning their replicability in contexts that differ in terms of available resources, territorial specificities, and administrative capacities.

Abstract
Finally, the research will reflect on the critical aspects and potential of such models, questioning their replicability in contexts that differ in terms of available resources, territorial specificities, and administrative capacities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
