Within the framework of studies on teachers’ professional biographies in Italy—an area of growing significance for understanding the evolution of teaching professionalism from past to present—this contribution focuses on the figure of Cesare Malservisi, a primary school teacher who worked in Italy during the second half of the twentieth century, particularly in the Bologna area between the 1950s and the 1990s. Drawing on archival and printed sources, the study examines his educational background, his early teaching experiences, and the practices he developed to promote pedagogical innovation in primary education, closely connected to his strong ethical and civic commitment to an inclusive and democratic school system inspired by the principles of the Italian Constitution.

Nel quadro degli studi sulle biografie magistrali in Italia, di importanza sempre più rilevante per lo studio della professionalità docente tra passato e presente, il contributo si sofferma sulla figura di Cesare Malservisi, maestro elementare che lavorò nel secondo Novecento in Italia, in particolare nell’area bolognese tra anni Cinquanta e Novanta.
