This chapter offers some reflections on the concept of the circular economy in relation to clothing in the late Middle Ages. Starting from the analysis of some Bolognese sources from the 13th and 14th centuries, i.e. the reports of the stolen garments in the judicial acts, which highlight the high circulation of second-hand garments, even illegal ones, and the laws of the trade guilds that dealt with garments, such as tailors, drapers, second-hand dealers, and mercers, the aim is to examine the circulation of garments; the life cycle of garments and their re-use; the professionals involved in the production and trade of garments, distinguishing between thosewho dealt in new, second-hand and ready-made items.
