Country report: Italy Beyond reception: Sustainable development for all?

This country report contains the main findings related to the Italian context. In total, six initiatives in four different regions have been studied in depth to investigate how migration and sustainable development of shrinking regions can be expressed in terms of social wellbeing, economic viability and political stability. Moreover, this study tries to explore how these initiatives also relate to and are influenced by the spatial, discursive, political, and participatory dimensions of welcoming non-Eu migrants in rural, mountain and peripheral areas of Italy. Finally, after having exposed the most significant results of every section, the conclusions will draw some initial policy recommendations to help policymakers and local stakeholders to sustain the realisation and implementation of welcoming sustainable territories.
