The paper focuses on the analysis of epigraphic and numismatic evidence on Magnia Urbica, the wife of Carinus, the last soldier emperor. The study will be conducted by comparing the official representation of the Augusta, which can be deduced from imperial coinage, and its reception by the community, as evidenced by inscriptions. Some considerations will also be offered on the significance of the title mater castrorum and its usage throughout the 3rd century AD.
