Nuove frontiere di cooperazione allo sviluppo: Il Piano Mattei per l’Africa, il Global Gateway e L’Organizzazione mondiale del commercio

The Mattei Plan for Africa is a comprehensive strategy adopted by the cur- rent Italian government, aimed at transforming the framework of development cooperation with the African continent. This paper seeks to provide an overview of its key features, mechanisms, and objectives underpinning the plan. The analysis is conducted on the basis of official documents and the available literature. In light of the emerging synergies between Italian and European strategies, the Global Gateway initiative is also briefly introduced alongside the Mattei Plan. Finally, the paper concludes with an operational proposal: exploring potential complementarities with initiatives pursued within the framework of the World Trade Organization.
