Vittoria Aleotti’s Ghirlanda de’ madrigali a quattro voci (1593) : poetic and musical choices of a composer nun · The article analyses the poetic and compositional choices made by Vittoria Aleotti in her Ghirlanda de’ madrigali a quattro voci (1593), a collection whose literary texts include such leading authors of the Ferrara literary milieu of the time as Battista Guarini, Cesare Rinaldi, Onofrio Zarrabini and Annibale Pocaterra. In retracing and evoking the musical environment of the monastery of San Vito, the re-reading of these texts will reconstruct the networks of relationships that orbited around this composer, a singular and almost unique voice in the compositional scene of the time
