This paper explores the relationship between Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and emotional recognition from a cognitive semiotics perspective. Adopting a pragmatist and enactive approach to cognition, it offers an analysis that highlights the role of the tensive and kinetic dynamics of emotional expressions within the autistic form of life. For exemplifying purposes, the paper concludes with the analysis of an intermodal translation device for emotional expression in ASC based on Deep Learning, in which the tensive dimension plays a central role, providing some theoretical reflections for further research paths.

Abstract

This paper explores the relationship between Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and emotional recognition from a cognitive semiotics perspective. Adopting a pragmatist and enactive approach to cognition, it offers an analysis that highlights the role of the tensive and kinetic dynamics of emotional expressions within the autistic form of life. For exemplifying purposes, the paper concludes with the analysis of an intermodal translation device for emotional expression in ASC based on Deep Learning, in which the tensive dimension plays a central role, providing some theoretical reflections for further research paths.
