This essay delves into the significance of clothing and fashion in the realmof self-expression, particularly in response to the depersonalization of one’s image in an increasingly interconnected and invisible societal framework. This contemporary socio-cultural context, often characterized as “the society of transparency”, has spurred the development of wearable designs that offer strategies for creating a private and secure space for defining one’s own identity. On one hand, there is sousveillance, which involves observing and documenting surveillance activities, and on the other hand, countersurveillance, which seeks to evade the prying eyes of ubiquitous cameras. The essay’s structure will be guided by several case studies, ranging from speculative to fashion design and addressing adversarial patterns, the avoidance of facial recognition, and shielding fabrics. Moreover, this research delves into the interdisciplinary facets of transparency, exploring the intricate relationship between the body and its clothing (or lack thereof ), and the dynamics within digital realms. It sheds light on how the act of dressing oneself can serve as a form of resistance against the erosion of personal boundaries in an era of constant surveillance, offering a platform for the reassertion of individuality.

Abstract
It sheds light on how the act of dressing oneself can serve as a form of resistance against the erosion of personal boundaries in an era of constant surveillance, offering a platform for the reassertion of individuality.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
