Immaginazioni e pratiche di risignificazione: auto-narrazioni non binarie per ripensare le categorie di genere

This paper focuses on the self-narration of some queer experiences, by recognising as knowledge the everyday lives, to “break down the watershed between […] intellectual work and political urgency” (Nadotti 2020: 26). This work taps into a research to which participated some non-binary and activist people in Italy. These experiences trouble binaries by creating other self-identification, gender is exposed as a construct and yet it remains a way to talk about oneself. After its arbitrariness and performativity are revealed, how does the meaning of gender change? Can we re-conceptualise it? Through the narratives of who turned non-conformity into a house and a place of resistance, we will see how gender categories can be re-thought and overcome through strategies that, in a world that oppresses whoever exists outside the binaries, make bodies and identities agency tools.
