In the 18th century, the scientific academies had a primary role in culture and science. In this essay – based on archival sources and rare prints –, we’ll follow the footsteps of the famous French jurist Pierre Daunou – author of a draft civil code for the République romaine during the Jacobin triennium, and later ha was member of the commission that drafted the Napoleonic Code –, and we’ll analyse essays and evaluations for academic competitions on one of the great themes of the Enlightenment first, and then of the Révolution: parental authority. Daunou was a candidate at the Berlin Academy in 1785, and then member of the judging committee at the Institut de France a decade later.

Abstract
In the 18th century, the scientific academies had a primary role in culture and science. In this essay – based on archival sources and rare prints –, we’ll follow the footsteps of the famous French jurist Pierre Daunou – author of a draft civil code for the République romaine during the Jacobin triennium, and later ha was member of the commission that drafted the Napoleonic Code –, and we’ll analyse essays and evaluations for academic competitions on one of the great themes of the Enlightenment first, and then of the Révolution: parental authority. Daunou was a candidate at the Berlin Academy in 1785, and then member of the judging committee at the Institut de France a decade later.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
