Fishing has traditionally been regarded as a secondary economic activity in studies of the Late Bronze Age Aegean world, as it is not mentioned in the Linear B texts from Mycenaean palaces. Over the past fifty years, however, various lines of evidence have challenged this assumption. In addition to fishing implements (hooks, harpoons, net weights) and ichthyological remains, iconographic documentation can help identify fishing techniques. Against such a backdrop, this paper re-examines the interpretation of two net-fishing scenes on vessels from the Late Helladic/Late Cycladic IIIC middle period at Kynos and Aplomata cemetery on Naxos. Beyond technological aspects, it aims to clarify the social dimension of fishing activities in the post-palatial Aegean.

Abstract
Beyond technological aspects, it aims to clarify the social dimension of fishing activities in the post-palatial Aegean.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
