Since 2020 the project ‘Alibi Archaeologies and Old Excavations: Rediscovering Roman Tunisia’ of the Bo- logna’s University, also supported by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is engaged in research on Tunisian heritage and its valorisation, in close cooperation with the Institut Na- tional du Patrimoine (INP). In 2022 the Thuburbo Maius archaeological site became its case study, for a research, training and conservation programme based on a trilateral agreement also involving the Manouba University. A second project, Rediscovering Hadrumetum, started in the same year, with similar aims and approach: valorising old excavations through an interdisciplinary strategy and the entanglement of research questions and conservation demands. The guiding principles for both projects are the same: sustainability, and durability.
