This contribution examines memory and the conditions necessary for its development, questioning whether visual media can foster identity values and promote the protection of Modern heritage. Existing literature highlights the socio-emotional impact of films and TV series as powerful cultural tools. To assess their educational potential, the study first explored how architect-educators such as Bruno Zevi and Paolo Portoghesi employed visual media. It then critically analyzed selected historical and contemporary films and series that enhanced appreciation of Modern architecture. The findings identify shared features that make visual media effective for teaching: they should be part of a broader, structured project and give architectural themes a significant narrative role, especially at key plot moments. The study concludes that a pedagogical use of visual media—still underexplored—can effectively stimulate cultural identity and awareness of heritage, provided it integrates insights from education and the social sciences.

Abstract
The study concludes that a pedagogical use of visual media—still underexplored—can effectively stimulate cultural identity and awareness of heritage, provided it integrates insights from education and the social sciences.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
