In this paper I will examine Dewey’s conception of experience and focus my analysis on the moment when the word «experience» becomes significant in epistemology, namely when we acquire new knowledge. This philological reconstruction will help us to pursue two other tasks: 1) to verify what of Dewey’s conception of experience is still vital in American philosophy; 2) to see whether in Dewey and in American pragmatism there was something important for our contemporary philosophical landscape, something that has been forgotten.

Abstract
In this paper I will examine Dewey’s conception of experience and focus my analysis on the moment when the word «experience» becomes significant in epistemology, namely when we acquire new knowledge. This philological reconstruction will help us to pursue two other tasks: 1) to verify what of Dewey’s conception of experience is still vital in American philosophy; 2) to see whether in Dewey and in American pragmatism there was something important for our contemporary philosophical landscape, something that has been forgotten.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
