Primary pancreatic carcinoma of ductal origin constitutes the vast majority of pancreatic tumors. The occurrence of metastatic lesions in the pancreas is very uncommon (the incidence at autopsy is 1.6%-11%) 1,2 and constitutes a small group of lesions that may be difficult to diagnose correctly. Resection of metastatic tumors of the pancreas has been reported, but its role in improving the survival or quality of life is not clearly defined. 3,4 Recent studies, however, have reported long-term survival and good palliation effect. 1,5,6 For these reasons, an accurate diagnosis and staging of the single pancreatic lesion is mandatory. EUS with FNA (EUS-FNA) is a safe and minimally invasive diagnostic tool with high accuracy rates for the evaluation of pancreatic masses, both for primary pancreatic tumors and for suspected metastases. 7,8,9 We report a case of pancreatic metastasis from liposarcoma of the right thigh, diagnosed by EUS-FNA and treated by surgical resection.
