Our research aims to investigate how the presence of visual mediators can affect the resolution process of university students. Specifically, our study is focused on analyzing students' problemsolving processes in reference to tasks that require them to determine the straight lines intersecting a given parabola. This study allowed us to identify two different categories of strategies implemented by the students, which are framed by Sfard's theory of Commognition. This categorization allowed us to investigate the impact of the presence of visual mediators in the text of the tasks, and their role in the resolution processes enacted by students.
