The essay analyses some distinctive elements of Baldassarre Castiglione’s epistolary on the basis of the volume edited by Roberto Vetrugno, Lessico cortigiano. Glossary of the Letters of Baldassarre Castiglione (2024). Specifically, it is focused on the linguistic aspects that distinguish the courtly man in both public and private matters. In this way, emerges a ‘micro-history of words’, outlining the ideal and real form of the Cortegiano, and a Renaissance vocabulary based on the linguistic contexts and variations determined by modernity.

Il saggio analizza alcuni elementi caratterizzanti della scrittura epistolare di Baldassarre Castiglione sulla scorta del volume curato da Roberto Vetrugno, "Lessico cortigiano. Glossario delle lettere di Baldassarre Castiglione" (2024), Nello specifico, ci si sofferma sugli linguistici che distinguono l'uomo di corte sia per quello che riguarda l'aspetto pubblico sia per le questioni private. In tal modo, emerge una "microstoria di parole" capace di tratteggiare la forma ideale e la forma reale del Cortegiano e si delinea un vocabolario rinascimentale basato sui contesti linguistici e sulle variazioni determinate dalla modernità.
