Trump e l'America Latina. Cose già viste, cose mai viste

Chaotic but assertive, incoherent but aggressive, Trump’s policy in Latin America seems to follow, a century later, the footsteps of Theodore Roose-velt’s Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine: the same unilateralism, the same goal of expelling an extra-hemispheric power, in this case China. Much, if not eve-rything, has changed since then, and far from “Making America Great Again”, this policy risks, by turning its back on the liberal vocation of the United States, to undermine what remains of Pan-Americanism in the region and to legitimize authoritarian backlashes.
