Environmental sustainability and climate impact mitigation are increasingly central to industrial strategy, especially in sectors with complex value chains. However, existing approaches to environmental performance are often limited to static reporting, lacking integration with operational and management systems. This research addresses this gap by proposing and validating a structured framework that enables the mapping, quantification, and strategic management of greenhouse gas emissions, particularly Scope 3, along the entire industrial value chain. The framework, developed and piloted in the motorcycle industry, is grounded in international standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) and Life Cycle Thinking principles. It consists of six operational phases and integrates emissions data into Environmental Management Control Systems (EMCS), supported by digital infrastructures. The main contributions of this study include: (i) a replicable and scalable operational tool for environmental performance governance; (ii) integration of Scope 3 emissions into actionable decision-making; and (iii) validation through an industrial case study that demonstrates both critical emission hotspots and quick-win areas for intervention.

Abstract
The main contributions of this study include: (i) a replicable and scalable operational tool for environmental performance governance; (ii) integration of Scope 3 emissions into actionable decision-making; and (iii) validation through an industrial case study that demonstrates both critical emission hotspots and quick-win areas for intervention.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
