Neo-Persian literature, which emerged in Central Asia (Bukhara), Persia and Afghanistan from the 9th–10th centuries, is characterised by the presence of numerous female characters, primarily in romance poems and popular novels, but also in epic and chivalric poems. It is not only a question of femme fatales who disrupt the emotional lives of heroes and knights; there are also female characters endowed with intelligence and great determination who break into politics, diplomacy and even war. Here, the analysis of female murderers is limited to two works: The Book of Kings (Shāh-nāme), the famous poem by the epic poet Ferdowsi (10th and 11th), and The Book of Alexander (Catay section) (Eskandar-nāme, bakhsh-e Khatā), a lesser-known prose work by the 16th–17th-century Safavid author Manuchehr Khān Ḥakim.

La letteratura neo-persiana, emersa nell'Asia centrale (Bukhara), in Persia e in Afghanistan tra il IX e il X secolo, è caratterizzata dalla presenza di numerosi personaggi femminili, principalmente nei poemi romanzeschi e nei romanzi popolari, ma anche nei poemi epici e cavallereschi. In questo caso, l'analisi delle assassine si limita a due opere: Il libro dei re (Shāh-nāme), il famoso poema del poeta epico Ferdowsi (X e XI secolo), e Il libro di Alessandro (sezione Catay) (Eskandar-nāme, bakhsh-e Khatā), un'opera in prosa meno conosciuta dell'autore safavide del XVI-XVII secolo Manuchehr Khān Ḥakim.
