The problem we study in this paper is to determine for which values of the degree, d, and genus, g, there exist projectively normal, smooth, irreducible, non-degenerate curves C in the r-dimensional projective space with particular indices of speciality. We find such curves on particular surfaces that are isomorphic to blowing-ups of the plane.
