Power electronics continues to have an ever-growing impact on day-to-day life and increased implementation in critical applications. Therefore, power converter reliability and pre-fault and post-fault behaviour become subjects of high relevance and interest. This paper proposes a switch-level active redundancy module having a synchronous switching scheme for fault-tolerant applications. The proposed solution is validated over a 5 kW full bridge forward converter. Further, existing fault-tolerant solutions, such as topology morphing and redundancy, are applied to the topology under study for in-depth analysis and comparison with the proposed solution.

Abstract
Power electronics continues to have an ever-growing impact on day-to-day life and increased implementation in critical applications. Therefore, power converter reliability and pre-fault and post-fault behaviour become subjects of high relevance and interest. This paper proposes a switch-level active redundancy module having a synchronous switching scheme for fault-tolerant applications. The proposed solution is validated over a 5 kW full bridge forward converter. Further, existing fault-tolerant solutions, such as topology morphing and redundancy, are applied to the topology under study for in-depth analysis and comparison with the proposed solution.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
