The pursuit of a world without war and environmental destruction is ultimately a quest for a life after capitalism. This is a multilevel transitional process that requires a world politics capable of addressing heterogeneous conditions of domination and exploitation while articulating a common desire for liberation. In this piece we start by contrasting the notions of transition and apocalypse and we go on to discuss proliferating transitions in the present, with a focus on geopolitical, ecological, and energy transitions. Against this background we emphasize the need to reframe the vexed question of the transition to communism.

Abstract
The pursuit of a world without war and environmental destruction is ultimately a quest for a life after capitalism. This is a multilevel transitional process that requires a world politics capable of addressing heterogeneous conditions of domination and exploitation while articulating a common desire for liberation. In this piece we start by contrasting the notions of transition and apocalypse and we go on to discuss proliferating transitions in the present, with a focus on geopolitical, ecological, and energy transitions. Against this background we emphasize the need to reframe the vexed question of the transition to communism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
