Same sex- parent families lack formal recognition, as the legal system only affirms the rights and duties of biological parents, leaving non-biological parents with no legal protections. Living without formal legal recognition, social gay parents often attempt to safeguard their parental role by meticulously documenting their involvement in both the caregiving and financial aspects of raising their children. This article explore the various practices aimed at making Italian same-sex parenting presence as visible as possible in order to request legal and social recognition.
