Two new species are assigned to the genus Metuonella Sorgenfrei, 1958, which is provisionally assigned to the family Mangeliidae P. Fischer, 1883, and herein described: Metuonella kitzingeri sp. nov., from the Solomon Islands, and Metuonella skywalkerorum sp. nov., from the Philippines. The new species represent the first Indo-Pacific record of a genus previously known only from the Tertiary of Europe. A probable Tethyan origin for the genus Metuonella is proposed.

Abstract
