This expedition is the second part of a 3D scanning campaign started by George Bent in April of 2025, intending to create high resolution colorized models of the medieval sections of Palazzo Vecchio, and referencing previous survey work done in 2019 (Verdiani 2022). In this project, a multidisciplinary team of architects, art historians, and data scientists, came together to explore this building’s complex history of construction and renovation. To date, this team has collected 1165 scans and successfully piloted a system enabling the capture of laser scans at the end of a telescopic pole.

Abstract
This expedition is the second part of a 3D scanning campaign started by George Bent in April of 2025, intending to create high resolution colorized models of the medieval sections of Palazzo Vecchio, and referencing previous survey work done in 2019 (Verdiani 2022). In this project, a multidisciplinary team of architects, art historians, and data scientists, came together to explore this building’s complex history of construction and renovation. To date, this team has collected 1165 scans and successfully piloted a system enabling the capture of laser scans at the end of a telescopic pole.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
