The aim of the essay is to investigate the behaviors and communication codes used by the Heads of State in Italy in the aftermath of a natural disaster. From the liberal to the republican era we will try to focus on the different ways in which they exercised their prerogatives in an attempt to grasp the different «style» they embodied in the dramatic contexts in which politics and public institutions were called to deal with the emergency produced by a catastrophe.

Abstract

The aim of the essay is to investigate the behaviors and communication codes used by the Heads of State in Italy in the aftermath of a natural disaster. From the liberal to the republican era we will try to focus on the different ways in which they exercised their prerogatives in an attempt to grasp the different «style» they embodied in the dramatic contexts in which politics and public institutions were called to deal with the emergency produced by a catastrophe.
