The main themes addressed by the authors of this conversation piece are the following: why Strabo, a Greek geographer of the Augusto-Tiberian period, can still be relevant today in ongoing debates and how Strabo has shaped the world and his narrative of the world. Particular attention is paid to the tradition of Strabo’s Geography in the early modern period as well as to some of Strabo’s key concepts, such as chora and oikoumene (lived-in world).
