This paper considers precarious existences and their strategies of resistance in knowledge work, exploring the experiences of a group of female postdoctoral researchers involved in a research project focused on gender and precarious work in Academia. The article deals with epistemological and methodological aspects connected with the authors’ role, themselves part of their own «topic of study». Using the interview guide used with the precarious researchers interviewed for the project, we present a self-reflective analysis on their dual role as researchers and research topic. In the conclusions, we discuss the possibility of constructing collective subjectivities in an academic system characterised by structural precariousness.
